Industrial Seminary Colleges in Ireland.
For over 200 years Ireland trained over 200,000 young men for the Priesthood, for Parishes in Ireland but more importantly for the rich Parishes abroad, like North America, Australia, Canada, Africa, etc.., and many more countries throughout the world. The Irish Catholic Church built an Empire of wealth and property but needed to train young men (civil servants) to maintain their Empire. An Empire was and is the Vatican, functioning as an aggregate of Nations or people that were ruled over by an Emperor known as the Pope. The territory and population of an empire is commonly of greater extent than the one of a kingdom, such as the Vatican, which was and is one of the smallest states in the world. Christianity and Colonialism were often closely associated.
If we had to choose a single, irreducible idea underlying Irish colonialism in the World, it would undoubtedly be the propagation of the Catholic faith. Industrial Catholicism outlived the many European Empires itself thus becoming in the process an Empire itself. In the early years most mission work was undertaken by the Irish Religious Orders, on an Industrial scale and processes. The expanding Catholic Empire was ruled and administered through the mother houses back home in Ireland. Over time it was intended that a normal church structure would be established in the mission areas. The process began with the formation of special jurisdictions, known as apostolic prefectures and apostolic vicariates. These developing churches eventually graduated to regular diocesan status with the appointment of a local bishop.
The Catholic Empire needed Tens of thousands of young zealous Irish Priests (civil servants) who were trained, indoctrinated and ordained within the 14 Industrial Seminary Colleges in Ireland, tens of thousands of fervent Irish Trained Priests were sent to foreign dioceses, in North America, Australia, and many more countries. The Imperial Civil Service, was the elite higher civil service of the Roman Catholic Empire in Rome, in their heyday the Roman Catholic Empire in Rome were mostly run by the three strongest Catholic countries at the time, Italy, Spain and Ireland..
The rape of children world-wide by the Roman Catholic Church, and especially by many Irish Priests, both at home and abroad is shocking. So the proverbial expression;- curses are like chickens; they always come home to roost. Sadly the image of a few pathetic Irish Priests going out to forage, hunting for vulnerable children during the day while feeding their lonely existence at night and coming back to the safety of the Parish House at dusk. Once caught abroad a few Irish Priests made their way back to Ireland, by fleeing their sick perverse carnage of sex crimes and broken lives of the raped frightened children, evading lawful punishment. We know now that a few Priests made their way back to the safety of the bosom of Mother Church and Ireland, to continue, their pillage unhindered. The few returning Priests were given new Parishes in Ireland to continue their unchecked rapes and pillage of unshielded children, ravaging, laying to waste, causing widespread devastation within local communities. The newly returning Priests with an air of untouchability and invincibility had an exhilarating walk of immunity, unhindered and unburdened by their Bishops.
It wasn’t just that the barrel of indiscriminate apples was rotten, but the few decent apples that were honourable and good were also contaminated, struggling to survive in a barrel, almost full of rotten apples. The overweening Hierarchy of the Irish Catholic Church encouraged this, by allowing the few rotten apples to ferment, drowning any good and decent people who might be brave enough to challenge the state of putrefaction and decay, that was and is the Hierarchy of the Irish Catholic Church. Sadly the Hierarchy left a foul odour, a putrid smell of decomposition that will finally bring down the weak and unsound rotten floorboards of the Church itself. Owen Felix O'Neill
During the nineteenth century, Ireland had produced so many priests the bishops recommended they go into mission work. Most of them came to the United States and many of them rose to prominence and power in the American church. The initial influx in the 1830’s concentrated on the northeastern states but later spread across the United States with the rest of the expanding country.
At the end of the nineteenth century Irish-born priests exceeded 4,000, making them the most common foreign born priests in the US. The trend continued for the next six decades, filling American churches with pastors and assistants. By 1900, 59% of the priests in the diocese of New York were born in Ireland. In the early years of the twentieth century, 62% of American bishops were Irish-American, half of whom had been born in Ireland. In the 1950’s an astounding 80% of the priests in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles were Irish born.

Fr. Patrick Kelly, Jesuit, Los Angeles archdiocese. Convicted; sued. The archdiocese said he faced four accusations of sex rape in 1991. (Sex Abuse Allegations Against Los Angeles Archdiocese Priests, by Glenn F. Monsignor Micheál Ledwith;- I know this man personally he was a regular visitor to the Boys Club in Dublin. Monsignor Ledwith, was a native of Taghmon a village in County Wexford, Ireland. A former president of St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, has been dismissed from the clerical state by the Pope. Monsignor Micheal Ledwith stood down in 1994 after making a confidential settlement with a minor who had claimed being sexually raped by him. When Monsignor Michael Ledwith’s dark secrets finally came to light, angry Irish citizens demonstrated against the Church leadership who had punished and banished a whistleblower priest many years earlier. That brave priest’s life was ruined when he had tried to report Ledwith’s ugly secrets in the early 1980s. Meanwhile, Ledwith’s career had skyrocketed. One of the most serious aspects of the Ferns report is the section dealing with former Monsignor Ledwith, who we learn later was involved in the sexual rape of children. This is significant because for the ten years between 1985 and 1995, the then Monsignor Ledwith was President of Maynooth College, the most important Irish institution for the training of priests. This begs the question as to what type of training on sexual matters priests studying in Maynooth at the time received from this man. In 2005 the Ferns Report by a High Court Judge, Mr Justice Murphy, into the activities of certain priests of the Diocese of Ferns included various allegations made against Mgr Ledwith.

Fr. John Lenihan, Diocesan, Orange County. Born 1964 in Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland. Ordained All Hallows College, Dublin in 1963- 1969, trained as a Priest. I know this man personally he was a regular visitor to the Boys Club in Dublin. The release of the personnel file of John Lenihan, a pedophile priest who raped teenage girls at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Orange in the 1970s. Fr. Lenihan engaged in oral sex with a 14-year-old girl, and admitted that he got a 16-year-old girl pregnant, taking her in for an abortion. The church paid more than $1.5 million to settle multiple abuse claims against him in the 1970s, and he agreed to be laicized by the Pope. The late Bishop Norman McFarland had allowed Lenihan to stay in the diocese even though he had been accused of rape, and, later, his successor, Bishop Tod Brown, admitted he allowed Lenihan to work in a parish with an elementary school.

Fr. John A. Howlett. Pallottine order, in Fort Worth diocese. He was accused of sexually raping at least five girls, two in the mid-1980s. At one point, church officials gave a woman money for counselling with the expressed expectation that she would not sue. The Pallottine order also gave money for counselling. Finally, he was banned from the active ministry and lives with members of his Pallottine order in Ireland. He is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with the public to ensure he has no adverse effect on the general public health or safety. Several women have come forward saying Fr. Howlett raped them. One said her rape began when she was 9. Church cover-up Diocese apparently learned of allegations against Fr. Howlett in the 1980s. It is unclear whether Howlett, who was sent to live under supervision in Ireland, is still alive. He lives in Dublin, Ireland.

He fled to Ireland and pleaded no contest there to charges of fondling a young girl; promised to return to Los Angeles but did not. He received three years of probation while in Ireland.

Fr. Tony Walsh was born in 1954. He was ordained in Clonliffe College, Dublin in 1978. The earliest allegations against him predate his ordination. He himself has admitted that he abused before he was ordained but most of the complaints about his activities prior to 1978 did not surface until many years later. It is known that during his time as a seminarian he had a key to the house of another well known abuser, Fr Noel Reynolds and it is alleged that some of the abuse took place in that house. While he was in Clonliffe College, he organised visits by groups of altar boys to Clonliffe and it is alleged that he abused some of them on the seminary premises. Fr. Tony Walsh was described in the Murphy report as “the most notorious child sexual abuser” to have come to its attention. “It is likely that he has abused hundreds of children,” it said. Fr. Walsh raped a boy three times, with a crucifix.
