The Irish Famine was not a deliberate act of Genocide, it wasn’t even Genocide. The Great Famine, or the Great Hunger, was a period of mass starvation and disease in Ireland from 1845 and ended in1850. The Catholic Church in Ireland, The Cult aggravated the conditions of the Famine with their huge industrial building of Churches and Religious Institutions. The Cult used millions of pounds on a spending spree to build 10,000 churches at the height of the Famine, they didn’t care about the Irish people, who were dying of starvation. They only cared about gaining and keeping power at the expense of the millions that were to die. This Famine wasn’t about their English overlords and there were many "notorious landlords" without doubt. In stark reality, the Famine boosted Irish Nationalism and Republicanism, in Ireland especially among the new Irish emigrants in the United States and Australia. But more importantly the Famine boosted the Catholic Church in Ireland. Ignorance thrives among the superstitious and Ireland at the time was a land of deep historical superstitions. As Thomas Paine once said —“Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it.” — And The Cult dictated to the masses, millions of the uneducated Irish people, feeding them daily helpings of hysterical narratives promoting fear among the rural Irish. This daily helpings of hysterical narrative by both The Cult and its Clerics against the English was more effective at sparking brutal violence and death. It was the vilest of hate, preached from The Cults high alters, speeches, filled with lashing of bigotry and hatred against the English. One of the vile lies preached from the hate filled church alters was, that the Irish were strangers in their own land and that the heathen English or ungodly English were devils who stole their lands and food, and was now starving them to death. In fact The Cult through its Clerics were able to disparage and denigrate the English. The Cult did not help to alleviate the suffering, of millions of their fellow Irishmen, instead it used its position to gain power, enriching themselves thus allowing millions to die so they could go on building their empire. The building programme of churches was for their direct control of the Irish population. The Cult could have used the money to feed their people, but no, it suited The Cult as a propaganda tool world wide against the British Establishment. The Cult wanted as many deaths as possible, The Cult embracing martydom by the millions if possible, it was only about The Cult. The Cult controlling the Irish People and increasing their power. They also took advantage of the prevailing destitution to increase its land holdings, and property during the Great Hunger. The Catholic Church in Ireland used its overseas network to attract large donations, raising millions for the Famine relief, but in reality they kept the money they raised for themselves. Some of the largest amounts were raised by Catholic Parishes in Britain and North America. Millions of Irish people died, millions in donations were raised, the money raised was not for famine relief, but for buildings, churches, schools, institutions of control. Don’t take my word for it, go to any Catholic Church in Ireland, in the thousands of villages, towns, cities, just look at the date it was built, nearly all of them were built during the Great Hunger, and many more soon after. No Irish Cleric died from hunger during the Irish Famine, but over 40 Irish Priests died of Famine Fever in 1847 and not hunger. 2.15 million Irish people died from starvation or from typhus and other famine-related diseases. Two and a half Million more Irish people emigrated to North America during the Irish Famine. The exact numbers who died will never be accurately known, but 1.1 million deaths from a population recorded at 8.2 million by the census of 1841 is a widely accepted estimate. Even this number understates the devastation wrought. So if we look at the 1861 census-2.15 million people were lost over the period of the Irish Famine. This number is only of recorded deaths, a far bigger number, more than Two and a half Million immigrated to North America. An Irish Poet subsequently wrote;- “For the spire of the chapel of Maynooth is the dagger at Ireland's heart.” And a Munster Catholic Bishop thanked God that he-- "lives in a country where a farmer would starve his own children to pay his landlord's rent"! The rent to the Catholic Church. The complicity of the Irish Catholic Hierarchy, in the Irish Famine is not very well known. The Cult know what they were doing, it was all about their plans, their building their empire and amassing great wealth. The Famine should have shamed The Cult, it didn’t, the Irish Famine emboldened them. The Cult needs us to focus on the Irish Famine as a Genocide or Holocaust, it was neither. The truth about the real Genocide in Ireland was interred in the septic tanks, cesspools and mass graves in every Religious run Institution in Ireland. Hundreds of thousands of vulnerable women and children murdered bodies are scattered across Ireland. There was no Genocide committed in Ireland during the Great Hunger/Famine, but there was a Genocide committed against the vulnerable women and children who reside in all the Religious run Institution in Ireland. The Mother and Baby Homes, Magdalene Laundries/ Asylums, Industrial Schools and the Orphanages, were the Irish Catholic Church’s final solution for unwed mothers and their children was ruthlessly carried out. The secret pits/graves, septic tanks dotting every Religious run Institution in Ireland, eloquently reveals the Genocidist power of The Cult, the Catholic Church in Ireland. The Cult and its Clerics believed in “God’s will” and that suffering in his name was a very noble thing. To The Cult interfering was against God’s will and that the Catholic Church’s role was more along the lines of blessing those dying from hunger rather than feeding them. The Cult’s main objective was power through control, the building of Religious Institutions, amassing land, and accumulating great wealth. By the time the Famine ended The Cult was the wealthiest organisation in Ireland at the expense of millions of Irish deaths. The Cult’s ascendancy in Ireland was totalitarian, Irish people at the time ate a diet of the meagerest sort of potatoes, cress, edible sea-weed, lichen, all served with gallons of poisonous religious propaganda. The facts are that the Irish Roman Catholics had a far greater loyalty to Rome than to Britain, but The Cult allowed them to die by their millions as they consolidated their power. In reality the Pope, Pius IX at a time of the Irish national catastrophe, offered only prayers and encouraged others to pray for the Famine’s victims, just what they needed, prayers-as they starved to death by their millions. Then, again, the Irish Famine was only one challenge in Pope Pius’s 32 year reign, one in which the dogma of the Immaculate Conception was finally defined and Papal Infallibility was accepted. Now the Vatican wants to make Pius IX a Saint. The Cult wants us to focus on the Irish Famine and call it Genocide or Holocaust, they don’t get to rewrite history any more. We in Ireland need to relook brutality at the true role of The Cult and its Clerics. Sadly The Irish Famine/Great Hunger was that a famine. What happened in all the Religious run Institutions in Ireland was plain and simple Genocide. Owen Felix O’Neill
