The Keepers-Irish Story
(Netflix documentary- The Keepers) In the summer of 1994 Father Anthony Joseph Maskell, knew that the net was closing in on him in Baltimore, Maryland. He knew it from his many friends in the Baltimore Police, including his older brother Lieutenant Thomas (Tommy) Maskell, of the Baltimore City Police. Lieutenant Tommy Maskell, of the Baltimore City Police retired young after twenty years of service in 1966. His younger brother, Father Joseph Maskell was the serving Chaplain, for the Baltimore County Police, the Maryland State Police, the Maryland National Guard and the Maryland Air National Guard. Father Joseph Maskell was capable of inspiring great loyalty, among his parishioners as well as among the police he worked with, Catholic Church officers and local politicians he befriended over the years. Now he, Father Joseph Maskell has been accused of a brutal murder and rape, not just any old murder but the murder of a beloved local Nun, Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik. Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik disappeared, on November 11, 1969. A few of the homicide detectives, working on the case, suspected that Father Joseph Maskell committed the crime, in the murder of Sister Catherine Cesnik, but Father Joseph Maskell had deep connections with both his Church, the powerful Catholic Church and the four Police Departments he was Chaplin to locally. Also Father Joseph Maskell was also accused of been a pedophile by over thirty men and women, this also was a reason to flee, the heat was seriously on. Father Maskell, stepped down as Pastor of St. Augustine’s Church in Elkridge, Baltimore amid allegations that he had sexually raped students. Baltimore Catholic Church officials told local parishioners that Father Joseph Maskell had requested leave time to seek inpatient therapy for anxiety and stress brought on by “the prospect of civil litigation and various criminal investigations.” as the pressure of the multiple allegations of sexual rape of children, and a murder mounted, a civil lawsuit had been filed for $40 million and was looming. The Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office intensified its criminal investigation of Fr. Joseph Maskell, and Fr. Joseph Maskell knew it was time to flee. The beloved Nun, Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik, disappeared Nov. 7, 1969, and the Baltimore Police conducted an intensive search for her but turned up nothing until January 3rd. 1970, when two local hunters stumbled upon the partially clothed body of Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik, on a frozen field covered in snow near a garbage dump in Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands. An autopsy by Baltimore’s City Coroner, showed that Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik, had died been beaten to death, her skull was crushed with an unknown blunt object. Her body was too decomposed and mauled by wild animals and insects for the City Coroner to determine whether Sister Catherine Cesnik, had been sexually raped or not. Father Maskell was serving at a nearby Church, Our Lady of Victory, about three miles away from St. Clement which is located less than a mile from where Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik’s body was found. The crafty manipulator, Father Joseph Maskell knew that he had to leave the City of Baltimore, Maryland, he had been advised by both his brother, Lieutenant Maskell and his close friends in both the hierarchy of the Baltimore Catholic Church, and the Baltimore Police were he was popular. Father Joseph Maskell had Irish connection, like the majority of the people in the City of Baltimore, with its strong Irish roots. Father Maskell had served as chaplain for two police agencies, the Maryland State Police and Baltimore County Police, as well as for the Maryland National Guard and, more recently, for the Air National Guard, where he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The pressure and stress now piled daily on Father Joseph Maskell, He got through his day with the help of a few medical drugs, a few happy pills, an array of prescribed opiates, like Prozac, fentanyl, codeine, and morphine all prescribed by his doctor. He needed the opiates, to sleep, to wake, to function daily, his drinking increased, it seemed to him that everywhere he turned their were whispers, tut-tutting, people would stare at him, doors once opened to him where now firmly closed to him, his phone messages were ignored. He even got the cold shoulder, shunned by his many Police buddies in the different Police Forces of Baltimore, in which he was once their Chaplain. The aggregate High Society of Baltimore once had open arms of welcome for him. One of their own, a local boy made good, his position as a once beloved Priest, dedicated Teacher, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, with his political connections, was dead, now he was persona non grata. Becoming a social pariah once the news seeped out and became known about the murder of Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik back in 1969, and that he, Father Joseph Maskell was the main suspect. The heat was on, even within his own Catholic Organisations. There was no doubt that the Archbishop of Baltimore, William Keeler wanted Father Joseph Maskell to go away and go away fast, the multiple sex scandals and murder of Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik by Father Joseph Maskell had the potential to boomerang out of control, engulfing the entire Baltimore Catholic Church. It was agreed by all, the Hierarchy of the local Catholic Church and the Baltimore Police Services in and around the City of Baltimore, that Father Joseph Maskell was radioactive and had to go, and better still if he disappeared and moved abroad immediately. The Baltimore Catholic Church conspired to facilitate with one of it’s own, a rogue Priest. Ireland was considered the best choice, after all Father Joseph Maskell was part Irish through his father. The Baltimore Catholic Church and the Irish Catholic Church had very strong historical connections, a few feelers were fed out by the Baltimore Catholic Church and a Son of an Irishman, no matter where born was always welcomed. So plans were put into place through the Baltimore Church’s Attorneys, a Passport, monies and contacts and letters of introduction were provided, as was all travel arrangements, Father Joseph Maskell was going to live and work Ireland. Father Maskell, The Irish Connection In July 1994 Father Joseph Maskell travelled on Delta Airlines to Boston Massachusetts, landing at Boston’s Logan International Airport. Where Father Joseph Maskell on a prearranged flight travelled on to Dublin Ireland by Aer Lingus, the Irish State carrier Airline. Father Joseph Maskell travelled not as a Priest but as Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist. His new American Passport that was arranged by his lawyer, using his bother’s name Thomas Maskell reflected that he was Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist and not Father Joseph Maskell, a Catholic Priest as had been on his previous outdated American Passport. Dr. Thomas Maskell, also carried besides his luggage, (two suitcases,) letters of introduction and references, and large sums of American dollars, in hundred dollar bills, that he kept in a money belt, fastened around his waist. He also carried in his briefcase, American travellers cheques for a few thousand more, that he took on board the Aer Lingus flight, in a small dark brown briefcase he kept with himself. Dr. Thomas Maskell also packed a couple of books and a few newspapers and magazines to read on board the 8 or 9 hour flight to Dublin Ireland. Once the Aer Lingus plane landed in Dublin International Airport, Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist was quickly waved through both Customs and Immigration controls, as would most American passengers, coming in as tourists from Boston, Massachusetts or any other American City. You see if Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist came as a visitor, it would not be a problem, but if Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist came to both work and stay, than that was a different matter, he would require a work visa for six months. Dr. Thomas Maskell, clinical psychologist didn’t tell Immigration controls that the purpose of his visit was to stay and work in Ireland, after all he was not Irish he was American. The other problem is he, Dr. Thomas Maskell wasn’t going to tell Irish Immigration Officials that he was the subject of a dozen criminal investigations for rape of children and a leading candidate in a murder investigation of a Catholic Nun. Dr. Thomas Maskell knew he was safe to travel from Baltimore to Ireland, and if the alarm was raised, he knew that the Baltimore Police would issue an International alert for a Catholic Priest, with the name of Father Joseph Maskell. If the alert was raised in Ireland then the Irish Border Officials would be looking for a Catholic Priest, with the name of Father Joseph Maskell on a passport, and not a clinical psychologist with the name of Dr. Thomas Maskell.…not the same, and he cleverly knew this, he had learned how the American Police worked having worked with the American Police for over 30 years. He still had a few friends in the Baltimore City Police, besides his brother, Lieutenant Tommy Maskell. After all he could if all else fail, be sure of the support of his retired brother, Lieutenant Tommy Maskell. Lieutenant Tommy Maskell had a network of brother police officers willing to obstruct and impede any investigation, after all he and his police friends had been doing his bidding for 20 years now. There is ample evidence that some of his police buddies raped a few of his underage victims in squad cars in and around the City of Baltimore, while he, Father Joseph Maskell sat in the squad car, cheering them on. Once in Dublin City, Dr. Thomas Maskell, was able to contact a network of fellow Priests who could help him, with accommodation, food, work and money if he needed it. He took up all the offers that the Priest network offered, Dr Thomas Maskell, intended to stay in Ireland for as long as he could. He knew even if the Baltimore City Police were looking for him that he was safe in Ireland, and if arrested by the Irish Police he wouldn’t be extradited from Ireland. Something else, Fr. Anthony Joseph Maskell, had true Irish blood on his father’s side of the family, the father hailed from Limerick City. Fr. Joseph Maskell father, Joseph Francis Maskell was born in the city of Limerick in the West of Ireland and emigrated with his parents, Daniel and Hanna Maskell, to Ellis Island New York in 1898, before settling in Baltimore City, an area popular with Irish immigrants. Joseph Francis Maskell married Susie Helen Jenkins, in 1924, they had two boys, Joseph Thomas (Tommy) Maskell born 1925 and Anthony Joseph Maskell, born 13th. April in 1939. This Irish father, Joseph Francis Maskell died in 1963. Father Anthony Joseph Maskell was ordained on May 22, 1965 at the age of 26, and died May the 7th. in 2001 aged 63. His peers have described him as "deeply intelligent" and "fascinated with psychology”. Lieutenant Joseph Thomas (Tommy) Maskell of Baltimore was shot twice in December 24th 1964, as a Baltimore Police Officer. Lieutenant Joseph Thomas (Tommy) Maskell, survived the shooting, but later retires. He died the 10th. of April 1998, he was 73 years old. So Fr. Joseph Maskell had the right to own an Irish passport if he needed one, which would entitle him to work and live in Ireland at anytime. Fr. Joseph Maskell didn’t do what most Irish American would do if coming to Ireland for the first time, look up Irish connections and places of their Parents Fr. Joseph Maskell never travelled to the City of Limerick, he didn’t want to, he knew that if the Baltimore Police were looking for him and they knew he travelled to Ireland, then it would be a safe bet that they would look at Limerick City and County. So his Irish family’s connections could say to the Irish Police in all honestly that Fr. Joseph Maskell never come to visit them. There were still strong family links with other Maskell family members, like Aunts, Uncles and bus loads of Cousins, in the West Country. Mind you Maskell is an unusual Irish name, there are only about 14 Irish People with that last Irish name. It’s an old French name, meaning 'Marshal'. Fr. Joseph Maskell was a very smart person, make no mistake about this, it was now about his very survival. He ruthlessly used his Priest Connections to secure his safety. He knew dozens of Irish Priests that had at one time or another worked in the City of Baltimore as Catholic Priests, many of these Irish Priests he knew personally and worked with over the years. A few of the Irish Priests had returned to Ireland, burned out with their own multiple problems as Priests, shrugging with their faith, sex, their personal loneliness and life in general. The Investigators that made the seven-part Netflix documentary The Keepers which came out last year, 2018. Their investigation uncovers a 1960s-era sex rape ring of pedophile Catholic Priests, which involving Father Joseph Maskell, and a cover-up by the Baltimore Catholic Church of the Nun, Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik. A murder investigation by both the Baltimore City Police and the Archdiocese of Baltimore had stalled, Father Joseph Maskell, secret corrupt connections went far and wide. The fingers of corruption extended well into different Police forces of Baltimore,Maryland and deeply into the never ending duplicitous, philanderers of the Catholic Church. For some time, there have been a number of rings or gangs of pedophile Catholic Priests operating in different countries throughout the world. We certainly know of a few pedophile rings that operated in Ireland. For example there was a well known one operating out of the capital City of Dublin. WE know now that one ring operated in the Wexford area, or the dioceses of Ferns. Another ring one operated North of the Irish Boarder, in Belfast. Where Irish Catholic Priests could come and go at will. We are learning that many of the pedophile rings flourished and operated in all the Irish Seminary Colleges, with older Catholic Priests, actively recruiting young student Priests into their secret societies. WE know this from the Priests themselves, when they were caught and confessed and in some cases imprisoned for their appalling crimes of rapes against children of both sexes. Many Catholic Priests worked and lived in the U.S.A. and many more Irish Catholic Priests travelled on holidays, regularly to visit fellow Catholic Priests they went to Seminary Colleges l with or they were members of the secret society of pedophiles. These secret Societies of pedophiles, grew into tight-knit communities with bands of Religious Brothers, and Priests, bound together by intimate social and cultural ties. A safe place to meet, and drink, where male clerics could talk shop and travel to safe cities and towns both throughout Ireland and North America, including Canada. A safe place where debauchery was practiced and where Clerics could indulgence in excessive sex, alcohol, and drugs. These secret Societies of pedophiles even had their very own International Guide for all members, and their visitors. The guide was arranged alphabetically by country, cities and towns and was handwritten in both English and Latin, offering short texts in English and Latin. A summary of the current laws and the local laws about homosexuality or other offences that were applicable to that country, in the event of a Priest or visiting Priest coming into contact with the local Police. Who to Contact, normally a local member of the chapter of the secret pedophile society. A local Priest, who would help with money, lawyers, police and documents and cover story if needed. Also information on safe places to stay, that may be of interest to Clerical travellers, such as bars, hotels, and gay saunas. The local chapter of the secret Societies of pedophiles would also help with children of both sexes to approach or in many cases the child was brought and provided to the visiting member. Private home were normally used as where known friendly Motels and Hotels. The secret Societies of pedophiles tended to flourish in bigger American cities. All the Wexford Pedophile Priests listed below had American connections and all travelled or worked in America. All the Pedophile Priests knew fellow Irish Priests and American Priests through the different Seminary Colleges and Religious Conferences they met, both stayed and studied with. Father Joseph Maskell, switching into Dr. Thomas Maskell started to look for a safe place to both work and live and the most connections he had was for Wexford in the South East of Ireland. In a letter of introduction from Archbishop William Keeler, of Baltimore, later Cardinal William Keeler to the Archbishop of Dublin, Desmond Connell, later Cardin Desmond Connell. Father Joseph Maskell found a true friend and a kindred spirit. Ireland at the time was soon to begin to explode with the Clerics sex scandals of the Irish Catholic Church. After Archbishop of Dublin, Desmond Connell and friends who acted for Father Joseph Maskell, it was suggested that Father Joseph Maskell should work in a rural area of Ireland away from the big cities. Father Maskell’s friends suggested that Father Joseph Maskell had friends in Wexford and maybe that would be a better location for him. Archbishop Desmond Connell, agreed and a letter with be forthwith written to the Bishop of Ferns in which Wexford was part of. The Bishop of Ferns at the time was Bishop Brendan Comiskey, an auxiliary bishop in Dublin. Bishop Brendan Comiskey, was a willing stooge, and a hopeless drunkard. Dr. Thomas Maskell found a very willing and helpful Irish Church. He could work in an Irish Hospital, over 90% of hospitals in Ireland are or were owned by the Irish Catholic Church. Once he, Dr. Thomas Maskell had Irish Police clearance, but of course he didn’t have any criminal or legal problems in Ireland. The Irish Police didn’t know he was American, why should they, the paperwork was done by the Catholic Church HSC owned hospital through the post at the time for a criminal background check. Dr. Thomas Maskell was rightfully given the all clear, by the Irish Police to practice as a clinical psychologist in the local owned Catholic Church HSC hospital. In 1995, Dr. Thomas Maskell worked for a few months in the HSE, as a civilian Doctor in Wexford Town under temporary employment as a Clinical Psychologist for the South Eastern Health Board. He made €60,000 euros at the time and paid his Irish Taxes to the State. He could also officiate at the local Catholic Church as a guest Priest at Sunday Services. Dr. Thomas Maskel had no degrees or qualifications, or work experience to work as Clinical Psychologist in Ireland. But he had a degree in Psychologist from Harvard University in America. He worked Ireland without his title “Priest” as Dr. Thomas Maskell with the South Eastern Health Board in its Wexford Community Care. Dr. Thomas Maskell received a local Garda clearance, but the background checks brought up no history of Pedophilia or Criminal Rape in Ireland. Of course as a Priest with a signed letter from the Bishop, Brendan Comiskey of Ferns, Wexford. Dr. Thomas Maskell had full immunity, there were no background checks on Catholic Priests or any other Clerics of the Catholic Church. The Church Letter once produced was sufficient for the local Sergeant of Police or Inspector, no questions would be asked. After six months as Clinical Psychologist for the South Eastern Health Board, Dr. Thomas Maskell left his paid job with the Irish HSE in Wexford Town to work in a private role as a clinical psychologist in Wexford and Castlebridge between 1995 and 1998;- . This suited his handlers in the Irish Catholic Church, Dr. Thomas Maskell could deal with the many children whose parents were slowly stepping forward to talk about their children’s rapes at the hands of the local Clerics. Unbeknown to the local parents, at that time was that the Doctor, Thomas Maskell was really a Catholic Priest, though he didn’t dress as a Priest. First and foremost Dr. Thomas Maskell loyalty would always be with the Catholic Church, plain and simple. In his position as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Thomas Maskell was paid by the Catholic Church, his salary, home and office expenses were paid and he was in a unique position to manipulate the vulnerable children, that would be sent to him at the recommendation of say the local medical doctor, the local Priest or Bishop, as a first choice. The Catholic Church always recommended that any child accusing a Priest of sexual rape must first see a Clinical Psychologist- the only one for the Church at the time was one of their own, Dr. Thomas Maskell. Dr. Thomas Maskell would soon be the master manipulator at the centre of a vast spider’s web of child rape. His job would be to access the raped children, their parents and keep the local Catholic Church informed of what was happening and how to contain any so call fires that were likely to break out. Dr. Thomas Maskell was also in the unique position of given prescription drugs to the vulnerable children, whether they deeded it or not. Dr. Thomas Maskell prescribed - Antidepressants medical drugs, which were given out liberally to vulnerable children or their parents like chocolates. The Antidepressants were used to treat depression, anxiety in the vulnerable children. No concerns were raised when psychotherapeutic medications, like Prozac were used, the parents just took what the good Doctor prescribe for them and their children. Prozac was widely used antidepressant, and effective in treating depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and bulimia. Adverse effects in children include an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and suicide in some children. You must also understand that the Dioceses of Ferns, which was a busy hive of Clerical Rape in the South East of Ireland, in which Wexford was part of, was the centre of a Clerical pedophile ring, that extend to almost all the 49 parishes, cities and towns, villages within. We know this because you only have to read the Fern Report to see and understand what was going on. Link Below- https://industrialmemories.ucd.ie/assets/thefernsreportoctober2005.pdf The money he, Dr. Thomas Maskell could command was better, than the Wexford Hospital he worked at for six months…He was paid hourly at the private clinic, less nosey questions and prying eyes form the local hospital staff and with more freedom. It is ironic that Dr. Thomas Maskell as a Clinical Psychologist was working with vulnerable children in the Wexford area, children who were raped by Clerics in the area. Wexford was at the time of 1994 the centre of Clerical Pedophelia Priests. Fr Seán Fortune, one of the most notorious Clerical Pedophile’s in the same area at that time, as was another Fr. Brendan Smyth who also worked in the U.S.A. and many more. Something else, Dr. Thomas Maskell did not appear in the Fern Report, the Fern Report dealt with pedophile Priests in the Fern Area, but I wish to point out that Maskell might be one of the Anonymous Priests at the end of the Fern Report and at the end of my article. Fr. Joseph Maskell has been credible accused by at least two young girls, now women of raping them, old habits never die out. All the Irish Press and including a report by The Irish Times —“Quote” “A number of Irish victims have emerged” We know that Fr. Joseph Maskell, would most weeks say Catholic Mass as a Catholic Priest, in different rural areas of the Fern’s Dioceses, something he insisted on doing. Having a two-sided personality, like Jekyll and Hyde- Fr. Joseph Maskell/Dr. Thomas Maskell, always viewed himself as a Catholic Priest, except both sides of his personality were evil. He could slip into but never struggled with his alter ego, even if one read about his life in Baltimore, both as a Priest and Priest Teacher, he always fancied himself as a Psychologist, we know this from the many Children now adults he raped, both in Baltimore, U.S.A. and Wexford, Ireland. Make no mistake, Fr. Joseph Maskell/Dr. Thomas Maskell was a master manipulator, this manipulator deliberately created an imbalance of power, and exploited the victims, children, to serve his own evil perversions. He knew how to detect and manipulate the vulnerable child’s vulnerabilities, ruthlessly. Fr. Joseph Maskell/Dr. Thomas Maskell habitually engage in cunning, calculating, and conniving behaviour. Within a few months of his arrival in Dublin Ireland, Dr. Thomas Maskell under his real name opened an Bank Account at the A.I.B Bank in Dublin so that he Father Anthony Joseph Maskell could receive his Priestly Salary from the Archdioceses of Baltimore. For the 4 years that Fr. Maskell live and worked in Ireland, he always received his Priest salary on a monthly basis. In fact, every Catholic Priest in every country accused and convicted of rape or murder of children always received their Church Salaries, regardless, even those Catholic Priests in Prison. Keepers and The Pedophile Connections. The Ferns Report took 53 full pages to recount the stories of rape told to them by the victims, as children, of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Ferns. Children as young as 8 years old were taken from their classrooms while preparing for their Communion and raped, patients in hospitals were raped, schoolboys were raped in public toilets, a teenage girl was told she would have her child taken from her if she ever told that the father, a pedophile rapist was a local Catholic Priest who raped her, since the age of 8. Married men were blackmailed into providing sexual favours. A catalogue of rape been so faithfully and so terribly chronicled, a catalogue of horror coming from the dioceses of Ferns. What is more shocking is that the Catholic Church authorities did more or less nothing until forced to act by public exposure. The Ferns Report heard how when one seminarian student was was raped went to Bishop Newman of Limerick to complain that Monsignor Michael Ledwith, vice-president of Maynooth Seminary College had raped him, Bishop Newman was so abruptly dismissive of the boy that the Bishop's own secretary suggested he go to see Cardinal Cathal Daly. At other stages Bishop Eamon Casey, Cardinal Tomas O'Fiaich, Archbishop Desmond Ryan, Bishop Kevin McNamara, Bishop Brendan Comiskey, and his predecessor, Bishop Donal Herlihy, were all told of the rapes, but did nothing. 21 Irish Catholic Priests raped over 100 children in the dioceses of Ferns, which covers the South East Irish counties of Wexford, and some of County Carlow and some of County Wicklow. The most famous of these Catholic Priests was Father Sean Fortune, who raped dozens of children. The Children were raped between1962 and 2002, many children that were raped remained anonymous to this day, a few died but told few at what happened to them as children at the hands of a ring of Irish Pedophiles. To many people in the area of Ferns that the true number of children raped would run into the hundreds. St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town where Priests were trained for the Diocese of Ferns, produced an alarmingly high number of Pedophile Priests. The Pedophile Ring of Priests operating in Ferns were Fr Donal Collins, who was the Principal of St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town from 1988 to 1991;- A few other pedophiles were Fr. Sean Fortune, Fr. James Doyle, Fr James Grennan, Canon Martin Clancy, Monsignor Michael Ledwith, vice-president of Maynooth Seminary College, all trained as Priests in St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town. Between 1960 and 1980 for example the local Bishop, Donal Herlihy who served as the Bishop of Ferns from 1964 to 1983. Bishop Donal Herlihy had a clear policy of transferring known pedophile Priests once discovered to have raped children and to promote the pedophile Priest, moving them into a different parish within the dioceses of Ferns. The Fern Report mildly says of the Bishop is that he had “moral failure” no he didn’t have “moral failure” Bishop Donal Herlihy had a clear policy of covering up the rape of children by his pedophile Priests. One of his Pedophile Priest’s was Father Donal Collins who was transferred to a Catholic Parish in England for two years before allowing him to return to continue to rape even more children in the Ferns area. The disgraced pedophile Priest, Fr Donal Collins of Wexford and former St. Peter's Seminary College Principal was dismissed from the Priesthood in 2004 after serving a jail sentence for a serious child rape. Since 1966 when he was a Teacher and later Principle in St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town. St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town had a boarding school for boys attached to the Seminary College. This was ideal for all the pedophile Priests and trainee pedophile Priests attending the Seminary College, yards away. It was like bring a chocoholic to a chocolate factory, pedophilia is an addiction, it’s a person who craves or compulsively consumes children, both male and female. Father Donal Collins was a pedophile, who raped over 20 boys in a dormitory boarding school in the Seminary College. Father Donal Collins inspected and measured the penises of up to twenty boys in St Peter’s school dormitory on the pretext of checking their development. Bishop Herlihy sent him to the Diocese of Westminster, London 1966-1968 for two years. In 1968, Fr. Donal Collins was recalled to St Peter’s and restored to his teaching post at St. Peter's Seminary College, in Wexford Town. Fr. Donal Collins raped more children while he spent his two years as a Priest in London. Bishop Herlihy reportedly remarked to his secretary, ‘Hasn’t he done his penance?’ In spite of the fact since 1968, Fr. Donal Collins was appointed Principal of St Peter’s Seminary College, in Wexford Town in 1988, after a wide consultation process and on the unanimous recommendation of an expert advisory panel. Also Fr. Donal Collins continued to rape children throughout that period in London 1966 to 1968 his was know at the time as his appointment as Principle St Peter’s Seminary College, in Wexford Town in 1988. Many ex-students now claim that the number of boys raped by the Principle at St. Peter's Seminary College is far higher then the 20 boys that came forward, more like 70 or 120 and higher, if you include, London, Florida, Wexford. To add insult to injury Father Donal Collins was appointed Principal of St. Peter’s, Seminary College in 1988 by Bishop Brendan Comiskey. Within seven months of his promotion, Principle Father Donal Collins, started again to rape more boys at the College now that he was Principle of St. Peter’s, Seminary College. Once a pedophile always a pedophile. College Principle, Father Donal Collins did not dispute that he 'engaged in indiscreet and inappropriate conduct with young boys’ (rape) when asked. In July 1991, Father Donal Collins resigned as Principal of the College and was sent to Florida, in America where he sought counselling in one of the Catholic Church’s many pedophile treatment clinics while he continued to serve as a Priest in a Catholic Parish nearby, in Florida. Bishop Comiskey of Ferns at the time, admitted in court that he did not inform the Bishop of the diocese in Florida that the Priest he sent to Florida, ex-Principle, Father Donal Collins was an admitted pedophile. In 1998 Father Donal Collins was sentenced at Wexford Circuit Court to four years in prison and served only one year, for the rape and running the lives of dozens of boys. There were credible reports from Florida that he, Father Donal Collins continued his rape of children while serving the local community as a Priest in Florida. The Fern Report, describes Father Sean Fortune and his catalogue of his abuse as- “dizzying, ranging from anal rape of children to brazen attempts at bribery for sex to terrifying psychological manipulation of the children”. https://industrialmemories.ucd.ie/assets/thefernsreportoctober2005.pdf Fellow pedophile Fr Sean Fortune violently raped dozens of boys at the same College, St. Peter’s, Seminary College, Wexford. Pedophile Father Sean Fortune raped over 50 or more boys during his lifetime as a Catholic Priest in and around Wexford. Fr Sean Fortune was consider a prolific pedophile, we know of two of the boys committed suicide and all the other boys lives were ruined. Fr Sean Fortune rapes of boys, started when he was a seminarian at St Peter’s Seminary College, Wexford and the rapes of boys continued with his involvement with the Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland. Fr Sean Fortune claimed that ‘Bishop Comiskey was responsible for all this as he had raped and buggered me’. Regular complaints were made against Fr Sean Fortune since the mid 1970s, his Bishop, Donal Herlihy sent Fr Sean Fortune for psychological assessment, which found that his behaviour "gives rise to grave concern". In 1982, Fr Sean Fortune was appointed as Curate to Poulfor Parish, where he established youth clubs in his basement. Fr. Sean Fortune's use of Poulfur Church in Fethard-on-Sea in Co Wexford as the base for his pedophile prolific rape of the local children. Local people describe Fr. Sean Fortune, as a plump young man in a well-cut soutane, incongruously adorned with the blackest of sunglasses, strutting along the main street and oozing pomp and power. Bishop Comiskey removed Fortune from Poulfor in 1987, and appointed him to another parish at Ballymurn, where there were further complaints. Fortune continued to teach until his arrest in 1995. He killed himself in 1999, while facing 66 charges of child sex abuse and rape. Fr James Doyle Fr James Doyle's ordination was postponed for one year in 1973, following a complaint that he had attempted to rape a student while drunk. After subsequent complaints that he had attempted to rape hitchhikers, and that he had raped an altar boy, Bishop Donal Herlihy sent him for a psychologist's assessment. The psychologist reported that trainee Priest, James Doyle "has had a history of auto-eroticism and homo- and heterosexual behaviour" and recommended he be moved away from his role working with young people. This was not done, instead he was ordained a Priest. Fr James Doyle was charged and convicted of rape of a 12 year old boy in the early 1990s, and received a three-month suspended sentence. Fr James Doyle attended counselling in England and subsequently worked as chaplain in a secondary school there. Fr James Doyle was dismissed as a Priest in 2004. Fr James Grennan Father James Grennan was a pedophile who showed his victims, innocent children, with no mercy. Fr James Grennan in a period of over 20 years raped children some as young as 5 years of age. In 1988, 10 young girls, aged 12 to 13, were all raped by Fr James Grennan, who sexually raped all ten of the girls while preparing them for Confirmation. Fr James Grennan raped the 10 girls on the altar of St Patrick's Catholic Church, Monageer, Co Wexford, during confessions. As the local Parish Priest, Fr James Grennan was also the effective boss of the local School, and the principal of the school at the time could do nothing to keep Fr James Grennan away from the school. The School was owned by the local Catholic Church and Father James Grennan was the chairman of the school and its handpicked committee. Disgracefully, the Department of Education did nothing. Bishop Comiskey dismissed the testimony of the girls, without ever meeting them, or without seeing the Health Board reports. He took Fr James Grennan's denials at face value, even if no one else in the diocese did. In one of the most bizarre passages in the report, we are told how Mr John Jackman, a Knight of Columbanus and a lay person of some influence in the community, was approached by a Garda who was also a Knight, and asked if he could get Bishop Comiskey to persuade Fr James Grennan to stay away from the upcoming Confirmation. A local Garda was asked by his superintendent to try the same thing. In the end Bishop Comiskey accompanied Fr James Grennan to the Confirmation at the local Church, in a day the Bishop described as one being "full of joy". It may have been for the Bishop, but it wasn't for the parents of the ten raped children or their families, some of whom staged a walkout of the church. The walkout finally started the wheels in motion which was to bring the whole evil saga out into the open, but the Garda destroyed the files on the case, according to the Fern Report. The South Eastern Health Board interviewed seven of the girls and found their allegations to be credible. The Garda were informed. The Fern Inquiry found The Garda response to be "wholly unsatisfactory". Fr James Grennan continued in his role of Manager of the National School. Many other girls in the local community have refused to come forward and speak about their childhood rapes at the hands of the pedophile fiend Canon Martin Clancy. At various points during this time, over 30 years, members of the local Garda, the teaching profession, the medical profession and the Catholic Church were aware of multiple rapes committed by Canon Martin Clancy, but no action was ever taken. Individual Priests knew of rapes of children by Canon Martin Clancy, but they choose to do nothing, not even reporting the rapes to the local Bishop, or local Garda. Rev. Fr. ‘Iota;- Accused of sexual rape of Pamela in May 2005. It then emerged that a complaint against Fr Iota had been known by the diocese since the early 1970s. Pamela said she met Fr Iota in the early 1970s when she was 13/14 years of age and he was Chaplain of her local youth club. He was in his late 20s and an abusive pedophile relationship developed. At the time Pamela reported it to Fr Kappa, then a local Curate. After the abusive pedophile relationship ended, Pamela attempted suicide. When her GP reported her complaint to the Bishop, following her attempted suicide, Bishop Herlihy wrote asking a “favour” of Cardinal Heenan of the Diocese of Westminster. Fr. Lamda;- In a letter dated November 5th, 1996, sent to Bishop Comiskey, Jonathon outlined his struggle with bouts of depression over a long period of time. He said he now felt free to admit that he had been a victim of rape as an altar boy by this Priest, who was a dear friend of his parents and thought of as an “adopted uncle.” He went on to state in his letter that his counsellor would write directly to Bishop Comiskey and that this counsellor was free to share with the Bishop whatever he felt like sharing. Bishop Comiskey arranged for him to attend a psychiatrist after the school incident, but the report says there is no record on file of this having occurred. Fr. Omikron;- Complaint against Fr. Omikron came before the diocese in March 2000 when a woman named Jenny wrote to Bishop Comiskey and said she had been raped by him. Upsilon affair Complaint was made to the East Coast Area Health Board against Upsilon by a man who said he was raped over eight years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1998. Denis withdrew the allegations in a statement to the Garda and also spoke to the diocese about the withdrawal. The diocese asked the priest to stand down from his ministry pending an investigation. The Ferns inquiry said that it was appropriate that allegations of child sexual rape that have been withdrawn should still be investigated. “Social pressures may cause complainants to withdraw allegations and in the interests of child protection, such withdrawals should not be regarded as decisive.” Fr. Zeta affair Diocese received an anonymous letter accusing a priest in a named parish of committing sexual rapes against schoolboys in the local primary school in the late 1980s, March 1996. The letter did not identify the priest, other than to say that he was still in the named parish. Rev. William Cosgrave, the diocesan delegate, subsequently said he believed the letter referred to a priest in the parish who had been Chaplain and confessor to the boys of the local primary school for many years. Just to finish..from my experiences as a Survivor of 18 years of Clerical Rape, and 40 years looking for documents from them, as has thousands of fellow Survivors. That both the HSC (Hospitals) and the Irish Catholic Church would have all the documents pertaining to either, Father Joseph Maskell or Dr. Thomas Maskell destroyed. Please remember that all the HSC Hospitals and most Clinics in Ireland are owned or controlled by the Irish Catholic Church. The Irish Catholic Church cleverly uses the Date Protection Act to hide a multitude of sins. There will be no documents forthcoming, there will be no investigations. There iron grip in Ireland is not broken yet, but we are getting there, sadly we know from many sources including the Irish Catholic Church, that millions of documents have been destroyed and destroyed deliberately to save the tattered reputation of the powerful Irish Catholic Church. I’m open to corrections I’m not a journalist, I write from both experience and the heart. Owen Felix O’Neill
